1. What do I need to cross the border on a day trip?
U.S. citizens must present a valid U.S. passport book or card, in addition to an entry permit (Forma Migratoria Multiple or FMM) issued by Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM), available here: https://www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/en/solicitud.html. Remember that recreational drugs and weapons are not legal on Mexico, so please make sure you don’t bring them, since this could jeopardize the experience of the whole group.
2. How do I get to the San Ysidro border or where can I park?
The meeting point is San Ysidro Land Port of Entry (720 E San Ysidro Blvd, San Diego, CA 92173). You can arrive there by taking the trolley and getting off at San Ysidro, by Uber, or by driving and parking in paid lots nearby with daily fees as low as $10 dollars. 3. What is the weather like in Valle de Guadalupe?
Valle de Guadalupe’s weather is very similar to San Diego’s! However, during autumn, be prepared for a mild day and a cool evening. Make sure to wear sunscreen and drink lots of water.
4. Do I need to be over 21 to join this trip?
Yes, however remember that in Mexico the legal drinking age is 18.
5. How long is this trip?
Prepared to be with us for about 12 hours of fun and friendship.
6. Do I need to report allergies or dietary restrictions such as a vegetarian or kosher diet in advance?
Yes, with large groups like ours it is important that we identify your food restrictions and allergies to make sure we may cater you best.
7. What happens if I need to cancel?
Unfortunately, this is a no-refund event.
8. How do I make my payment?
Tickets are made at the time of reservation via the Eventbrite page.
9. What meals are included?
We have three stops on our tour; the first and last include light appetizers and a family style lunch in the middle. We will be sharing at all times – please be polite and considerate to others. If so desired, more food can be ordered for an additional fee to the traveler.
10. How many wines will I taste and what portions?
The first winery and lunch include 3 wine tastings each (1-oz. portions), and the last bar includes a 5-oz. wine glass. If so desired, more wine can be ordered for an additional fee to the traveler.
11. How much wine can I cross back?
The law applying to California residents’ states that you can cross back with 1 liter of alcohol duty free. In case you want to keep enjoying their wine, you can always ask the wineries for retail locations in California or visit www.lmawines.com for more than 200 labels of Baja wines available in the US.
12. Who am I supporting on this tour?
Casa Loto Inc. is a binational 501(c)(3) non-profit charity in San Diego, created to strengthen LGBTQ+ youth programs and establish a community home in Mexico for displaced LGBTQ+ youth.
13. What will transportation be like during the trip?
The transportation will be selected based on the final number of guests. All units are recent model vehicles that comply with all legal regulations in Mexico and have travel insurance.

Yes! Valle de Guadalupe welcomes tourists from across the world every day. American tourists make up the majority of international day-trippers, and all restaurants and bars will be happy to accommodate guests in English or Spanish.

The bus will safely disembark all passengers at the same pick-up location outside the pedestrian land port of entry at San Ysidro in Tijuana. Travelers will walk a short distance back to customs, where they will be asked by U.S. authorities to present their passport and declare anything they’re bringing back from Mexico. Be advised that certain items, such as fruits and vegetables, cannot be brought in from Mexico (full list here: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/canada-mexico-travel).
