Casa Loto Timeline

August 2021 - A diverse group of people representing the LGBTQ+ San Diego community meet to discuss the rising LGBTQ+ youth homeless crisis in Mexico. After several hours of brainstorming and discussion, a decision is reached. We would exercise our networks, fundraising skills, and volunteer aptitude to create a dedicated community home in Mexico for displaced LGBTQ+ youth.
Thus, Casa Loto (Lotus House) is born.

September 2021 - The Casa Loto committee begins planning an event that will become an annual fundraiser in support of Casa Loto's mission.

December 2021 - Casa Loto is granted the Federal and State of California non-profit tax exempt status.

April 2022 - After 8 months of hard work, planning, and networking, Casa Loto held its first LGBTQ Masquerade fundraiser in San Diego. It was a sold-out event.
Due to the successful marketing strategies, crowd-sourcing, influencers, and some local celebrities gracing us with their presence, the Casa Loto name grows in recognition.

May 2022 - Casa Loto officially begins incorporation of its Board of Directors, codifying the people behind the mission. The team expands with new roles added and the dream continues to come into focus.

October 2022 - Continuing the mission of raising funds for the LGBTQ+ youth of Mexico, Casa Loto looks forward to hosting the community for our first Wine and Spirits Festival.
